Malang, September 19, 2025 — The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs, through the AI Talent Factory (AITF) program, is preparing Indonesian AI talents to design and implement technology, including the development of Large Language Models (LLM) based on Indonesian and regional languages. During a Guest Lecture titled "Indonesia Towards AI Independence: National Strategy & the Role of the Younger Generation," Vice Minister Nezar Patria emphasized that AI can be utilized for nutrition and health data analysis in stunting prevention, as well as optimizing cooperative business processes.
The Guest Lecture and the first AITF workshop were held over two days, September 19–20, 2025, at the University of Brawijaya campus. The event was attended by the Head of the Human Resources Development Agency, the Head of the Center for Digital Talent Development, and officials from the Ministry, alongside the Rector of University of Brawijaya, Deans, and the university’s academic community.
The Vice Minister also visited the Independent AI Exhibition Booth: Laboratory Innovation, accompanied by the Head of the Center for Digital Talent Development, Said Mirza Pahlevi, and the Rector of University of Brawijaya, Prof. Widodo.
The first guest lecture and workshop are part of a series of activities designed to provide AITF participants with in-depth knowledge of basic to intermediate AI and LLM concepts. This phase prepares participants to begin developing AI models and further AI innovations, while equipping them with insights into the specific use cases they will be working on over the coming months.
The first workshop session featured several prominent speakers, including Said Mirza Pahlevi, partners from IBM, Indonesian diaspora members, and experts from the University of Brawijaya. Highlights included:

As a result of this initial workshop, AITF participants from University of Brawijaya have successfully formed groups assigned to specific use cases to develop AI-driven solutions
